Laser optical methods for investigating material properties and for process monitoring (industry 4.0)
Novel interferometric methods for 3D and 4D shape and position measurements of fast rotating bodies are investigated at the MST. Applications are in-process monitoring of metal cutting lathes to allow direct controlling of the cutting process and a zero error production as well as to analyse the failure propagation in novel fiber reinforced plastic rotors at supersonic velocities. Model based signal processing on FPGAs and sensor data fusion, system integration, speckle simulation and fibre coupled high speed cameras are investigated to achieve temporal resolutions in the µs range and measurement uncertainties in the nm range.
