Portrait of Professor Cherif
Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dipl.-Wirt. Ing. Chokri Cherif has held the Chair of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology (ITM ) at TU Dresden since 2005. He was born in Tunisia on May 24, 1966.
Without high-performance textile fibers ... jumbo airplanes cannot take off in an environmentally friendly way, wind turbines cannot be operated and they allow a significant ecological contribution to the reduction of pollutants.
Being a professor ... makes me happy because, together with my colleagues at ITM, I make a special contribution to humanity, the environment and safety every day with our textile-based innovations.
I expect students ... to have a thirst for knowledge that will give them an excellent industry-oriented education and a leading position in science and industry.
In the future ... textile materials will become more and more established as the materials of the future in all spheres of life and will therefore be indispensable in transportation technology, the environment, construction, medicine, safety and energy.
If I could study again... I would like to study medicine and combine it with technology.
I associate excellence... in particular with international visibility and increased expansion of interdisciplinary cutting-edge research at TU Dresden, which results in marketable solutions.
