Review: Luis Wunder from EVT at the ASME Turbo Expo 2024 in London
This year's ASME Turbo Expo in London once again proved to be an outstanding event in the field of turbomachinery and energy technology. From June 24 to 28, engineers, scientists and industry experts from all over the world gathered at the ExCel Conference Center in the metropolis on the Thames to present and discuss the latest developments, innovative technologies and pioneering research results.
The Expo provided a unique platform for around 2,700 participants to exchange expertise, network and deepen existing alliances and partnerships within the industry. Participants were able to experience over 1,200 exciting presentations, interactive workshops and a large number of exhibitors who impressively demonstrated how the future of the turbomachinery industry can be shaped.
The diversity and depth of the content presented was particularly noteworthy. From groundbreaking technical innovations to practical solutions for current challenges in energy technology - the ASME Turbo Expo offered something for everyone.
Luis Wunder from the Chair of Energy Process Engineering was on hand in London to present his research on "Comparison of ash models in gas turbine blade rows for alternative solid fuels with low ash melting temperatures" . In his contribution, Mr. Wunder spoke about the need to prepare gas turbines for the use of biogenic residues and waste materials, whereby the deposition behavior of the ash is a central problem due to its low melting temperature. For this reason, fuel compositions were created, thermodynamic calculations were carried out and typical adhesion models were analyzed, with particular emphasis on the influence of phosphorus on the deposits. The contribution was well received and discussed, so that Mr. Wunder will continue his research inspired and motivated thanks to the positive feedback from the other participants.
This year's ASME Turbo Expo in London was once again a unique experience for everyone involved. It once again impressively demonstrated the importance of continuous exchange and cooperation in this dynamic industry in order to successfully master the technological challenges of the future.
