Professor PD Dr.-Ing. habil. Frank Babick is head of the research group Mechanical Process Engineering at the Institute of Process Engineering and Environmental Technology.

Our research group offers several courses for the degree programmes "Verfahrenstechnik und Naturstofftechnik" (process engineering and technologies of natural materials) and "Regenerative Energiesysteme" (renewable energy systems). They primarily deal with the fundamentals of particle technology, mechanical unit operations and particle characterisation. Our students are "exposed" to lectures, train computations for engineers in seminars, conduct individual and collaborative project work and pass several experimental courses.

The Centre of Particle Technology is a service laboratory of our group, which offers analytical instrumentation, test facilities and high-level expertise to students, researchers and industry. The spectrum of methods comprises on-line and off-line analytical tools for characterising powders, suspensions, emulsions and aerosols. We offer solutions for specific analytical tasks like nanoparticle release from treated surfaces or stability evaluation of Pickering emulsions. Look for more details at the site of the Centre.
