Bioresponsive material systems and bioinspired composites
As a group, we research biomimetic materials for hard tissue replacement. In doing so, we produce the materials based on biological models in order to adapt their properties to those of bones or teeth. We pay particular attention to the degradability of the materials and their interaction with human cells.
Research Profile
- Biomimetic material synthesis for hard tissue regeneration
- Regeneration and remineralization of teeth (enamel and dentin)
- Cell/material interaction of osteoblasts and osteoclasts with bone substitute materials
- Osteoblasts and osteoclasts in mono- and co-cultures and osteoclast transfer culture
- Mechanical characterization
- Drug release and degradation
- Composites of biopolymers and mineral additives
- Materials processing and 3D biofabrication
