DigiTrain: Digital twins for specialist training

Dresden-based software company 3D Interaction Technologies and the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology at TUD Dresden University of Technology officially launched the DigiTrain research project in May 2024. DigiTrain is the abbreviation of the official project title "Training skilled workers for the transformation...more efficient, better and more flexible".

Starting signal for new SFB/TRR project 402

In November 2024, the German Research Foundation (DFG) announced funding for the new Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio (SFB/TRR 402) entitled "Intelligent Production Technologies for Lightweight Plastic Structures with Load-Dedicated 3D-Gradation of Reinforcement Architecture (DediGrad)". The total funding of €16.4 million will be used over the next 3 ¾ years to develop advanced production technologies for resource-efficient and sustainable lightweight structures.

ILK and ILR of TU Dresden invest in new research aircraft Diamond Aircraft DA62 MPP

As part of a rigorous procurement process, the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) and the Institute of Aerospace Engineering (ILR) at the Technical University of Dresden have acquired a Diamond Aircraft DA62 MPP. This state-of-the-art aircraft will serve as a flying laboratory for the development and testing of fossil-free propulsion technologies.
