Student participation in DLR Summer School 2023
From September 11 to 15, the DLR Summer School - a joint event of the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V., DLR) and German aviation universities - took place at the research airport in Braunschweig. During this week, students were able to gain practical insights into flight testing and the evaluation of flight behaviour.
In preparation for the Summer School, the students reviewed the theoretical principles of different flight manoeuvres. After an exchange about the theory, flight tests with DLR's Cessna 208 Caravan took place. The students learned first-hand how a flight test works and recorded measurement data from flight manoeuvres on their test cards. For later evaluation, the flight data was also recorded by DLR's measurement equipment.
TU Dresden was represented by four participants who, together with other students, analysed measurement data regarding the flight performance and stability of the Cessna and presented their results on the last day. Eight German universities participated in the DLR Summer School 2023.
