Since 1998, the Akademische Fliegergruppe of the TU Dresden (Akaflieg Dresden) (Akaflieg Dresden) has been dedicated to developing, building and flying its own two-seater glider. It also offers the opportunity to learn and experience gliding as an air sport.

Odonata e.V. was founded in 2024 by enthusiastic aerospace students with the aim of designing and building a muscle-powered aircraft. The aim is to break the world record for the longest distance flight using human power and take part in competitions in Japan and England.

Learning by doing

Student projects offer an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience during your studies. This includes both the application of knowledge from your studies to specific aircraft design tasks as well as the application and expansion of soft skills through teamwork.

Motivated by the dream of building their own aircraft, enthusiastic aerospace engineering students have founded student clubs to work in teams to develop, build and fly gliders and muscle-powered aircraft.
