The Experiment
Abouts us Motivation The Experiment Milestones The Program
The experiment is designed mainly to expose the solar cells to cryogenic conditions that are expected to be around -60°C in the stratosphere while the experiment control unit needs to be insulated and heated to stay operative. The solar cell and laser arrays are mounted in aluminium tubes and aligned separately from the control unit. Inside the solar cell tubes modulated laser diodes will emit light that is turned into energy. The different characteristics of the behaviour of the solar cell (voltage, rise time, fall time for changing laser modulations) are recorded and will be evaluated after the flight.
