Internship offers
Dear high school students!
The staff at the Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology are happy to give you a comprehensive insight into everyday scientific life at the ITM during a student internship. A wide variety of tasks from current research projects, such as carrying out textile physics tests or working in the textile machine halls / CAE laboratories, are offered.
If you are interested in an internship at the Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology at TU Dresden, please contact:

Review of completed student internships at the ITM
(until July 2009: ITB)
2023
We are very pleased that we were able to actively support the project week of the Martin-Andersen-Nexö-Gymnasium in the period from 27.02.-03.03.2023. During the project week, the three students got to know the textile process chain in the ITM's technical centers and were able to produce their own materials on a melt spinning machine. These materials were then processed into fabrics on a weaving machine and subsequently tested in the test laboratory.
2022
We are very pleased that we were able to offer a student internship with two interns from June 20 to July 8, 2022. This was carried out in the ITM pilot plants in the Walter-Frenzel-Bau, in the new textile machine hall and in the Dresden Dobritz textile machine hall. The students learned how to use CAD systems as well as the important development steps along the textile value chain, from the material to the fiber to the textile fabric and active participation in experiments.
We are delighted that we were able to actively support the project week at Martin-Andersen-Nexö-Gymnasium from 28.02.-04.03.2022. During the project week, the students got to know the textile process chain in the ITM's technical centers in the Walter-Frenzel-Bau, in the new textile machine hall and in the textile machine hall Dresden Dobritz. They were able to spin their own materials, process them into fabrics on a weaving machine and then determine and evaluate the material characteristics in the test laboratory.
2021
We are very pleased that we were able to enable a student internship in presence in 2021. This was carried out in the technical center of the Dresden Dobritz textile machine hall. The aim was to introduce the trainee to the individual process steps along the textile value chain, from the material to the fiber to the textile fabric, and to enable active participation in the experiments.
2020
Due to the corona-related restrictions, it was unfortunately not possible to offer internships for pupils this year.
2019
In 2019, internships were organized and carried out for three students from different high schools in the state-of-the-art textile machine hall in Dresden-Dobritz. The aim of the work was for the interns to get to know the individual process steps along the textile value chain, from the material to the fiber to the textile fabric, and to actively participate in the experiments.
Every January, the taster course takes place at TU Dresden for pupils from various secondary schools. It is possible to take part in lectures, exercises and practicals, but also to talk to professors and staff to find out about the study opportunities at TU Dresden. As every year, interested pupils came to the ITM for lectures and lab tours.
2018
In 2018, four pupils from different secondary schools each organized and carried out a work placement in the state-of-the-art textile machine hall in Dobritz. The aim of the work was for the interns to get to know the individual process steps along the textile value chain, from the material to the fiber to the textile fabric, and to actively participate in the experiments.
