The Chair of Textile Technology Introduces Itself
Research at the Chair of Textile Technology, led by Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dipl.-Wirt. Ing. Chokri Cherif, focuses on the design and construction of textile machinery, process development, product innovations as well as material and process modeling. These developments are focused on Technical Textiles, in particular. The ITM, in particular the Chair of Textile Technology, has long-standing experience in the fields of fiber composite materials, textile concrete reinforcements as well as medical and protective textiles.
The Chair of Textile Technology is equipped with diverse modern machinery comprising all process steps of fiber forming, fabric manufacturing (weaving, knitting, warp knitting, stitch-bonding, electrostatic flocking) and finishing. Moreover, methods and machine technology for the manufacture of three dimensional textile semi-finished products are developed. Online process control is realized by means of innovative sensors and special measuring systems.
