S+T+ARTS Residency
The Office for Academic Heritage (Kustodie) has been a partner of S+T+ARTS (Science, Technology and Arts). S+T+ARTS (Science, Technology and Arts) since 2024. S+T+ARTS (Science, Technology and Arts) is an initiative of the European Commission that aims to combine technology and artistic practice in the best possible way.
As part of this initiative, the S+T+ARTS Prize recognizes the most promising collaborations and results in the field of creativity and innovation at the interface of science, technology and the arts.
The S+T+ARTS Prize of the European Commission is awarded by Ars Electronica and the consortium partners INOVA+, La French Tech Grand Provence, Media Solutions Center Baden-Württemberg, Salzburger Festspiele, Sónar, T6Ecosystems and the Kustodie.
The Kustodie supports Artists in Residence from the S+T+ARTS programme on the topics of Physics of Life (Biosystems and Complexity), Experimental Phenomenology + Cognitive Modelling and AI, Explainable AI, Robotics and Human-AI relationships as part of the Immersive Experience Lab of Prof. Matthew McGinity and the Interactive Science Lab at the Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences (CIDS) at TU Dresden.
Since 2017, the Kustodie has regularly invited artists and artistic collectives to TU Dresden to work collaboratively with scientists on specific issues. In the Art Science Labs and exhibition projects, internationally renowned contemporary artists work in exchange with researchers from the university on virulent contemporary issues.
With the establishment of the Schaufler Lab@TU Dresden 2020 and the Schaufler Residency@TU Dresden at the Kustodie, a format has also been established that offers international artists the opportunity to become part of the scientific community at TU Dresden for six months. The program is aimed at visual artists from the fields of performance, installation and media art (video, sound, etc.) who also understand their artistic practice in terms of time-based art. The projects of the Schaufler Residency@TU Dresden with the annually changing artists in residence are closely linked to the themes of the Schaufler Kolleg@TU Dresden and promote each other.
