Collection of Historical Calculation Machines
Sectional Model of Four-Species Pinwheel Machine, around 1960
The collection consists of 145 objects and provides an overview of the development of mechanical calculation machines in the period between 1885 and 1960. The mechanical and electromechanical calculation machines, which were predominantly produced in Glashütte (Saxony), document the history of economy and science in Saxony. The collection is supplemented by models that demonstrate working principles. A second part of the collection contains the digital calculators D1, D2 and D4a as well as corresponding equipment and peripheral devices that were developed by N.J. Lehmann at TH Dresden beginning in 1950.
