CRC/TRR 205 Clinician Scientist Programme

The CRC/TRR 205 has an important venue for establishing and promoting the career of clinician scientists, a group that is in danger of declining due to the increasing time demands of clinical duties. Within the CRC/TRR 205 funding period the supported clinician scientists are guaranteed a period of time in which they can exclusively focus on their research. They are required to have skills for clinical, translational and basic research.

Eliane Streiff

is investigating the "Determination of 11-oxo-steroids in children/adolescents with 21-hydroxylase deficiency" in Dresden.

Dr Simon Kloock

researches the "Adrenal gland, steroids and incretins in metabolic diseases".

Dr Isabel Stüfchen

is focussing her research in Munich on the topic of "Chemicals in focus: the influence of endocrine disruptors on endocrine hypertension".

Lydia Kürzinger

conducts research into hyperaldosteronism and endocrine disruptors at the Würzburg site.

Dr. Júnia R.O.L. Schweizer

is investigating "Soluble alpha Klotho" in pituitary and adrenal diseases in Munich.

Dr Hanna Remde

researches endocrine hypertension and endocrine tumors, in particular pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma and hyperaldosteronism.

Francesco Alessi

His research topic is: "The adrenal steroid profile for subtyping primary hyperaldosteronism"

A strongly patient-oriented research on adrenal disorders provides the fundamental basis for successful translational investigations. These take advantage of clinical knowledge and patient-derived materials (bio-samples) for bench level studies. Their goal is to explore disease mechanisms and identify novel biomarkers and targets for treatment.

By introducing an interdisciplinary team of scientists with experience and expertise in basic, translational and clinical research, the CRC/TRR 205 provides a fully supportive training environment for early-career clinician scientists. Furthermore it actively promotes career development.
