Campuscard – the new student ID at TU Dresden
Semester ticket, canteen card, library pass and student ID – all in one!
In the coming weeks, a new digital student ID in the form of a chip card will be issued at TU Dresden. It is the product of a joint project led by the DRESDEN-concept research alliance with the participation of TU Dresden, HTW Dresden, the Saxon State and University Library (SLUB), Studentenwerk Dresden and the City of Dresden’s public transportation authority DVB.
In addition to serving as an identification card, the Campuscard also doubles as a semester ticket for public transportation, and students can use it to pay for their meals at university cafeterias and canteens or to check out books at the library. TU Dresden is the first university in Germany to issue its own student ID with eTicket in conformity with the standard of the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV-KA). The card will be gradually rolled out through March 2023. There are also plans in the pipeline to issue staff IDs of this sort to employees at TUD who would like them.
