On 8 June 2023, alumni, staff, former colleagues, friends and supporters of the Faculty of Biology were invited to get together in a summery, cheerful atmosphere, to get to know each other, to exchange ideas, to network and, last but not least, to celebrate together.

The event started at 2 p.m. with the official part of the day: in the impressive conference hall of the Institut für Holztechnologie, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Thorsten Mascher, welcomed the guests and moderator Prof. Michael Rother led through the festive event, during which the graduates of the classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022 were awarded. Afterwards, three excellent academics gave short presentations on their work:

Prof. Dr. Catherina Becker (CRTD Dresden, new second member of the faculty)
Dr. Andreas Kurth (RKI Berlin, alumnus)

The musical accompaniment was provided by the Trio.con.fuoco consisting of students from the Hochschule für Musik.

At 5 p.m., the big faculty party started in the biology building. There was plenty of diversion on offer - from a bouncy castle and candyfloss for the little ones, to a "Wall of Fame" - of the graduating classes, a Lohrmanns Brewery beer bike and a specially designed cocktail bar, to music by DJane Richter and much more.

Many of the guests were enthusiastic about the colourful atmosphere of the festival and were happy about the numerous encounters. Special thanks go to Prof. André Scheffel, Anja Jahn and Katrin Simmank for the excellent organisation, which left nothing to be desired. In addition, we would also like to thank the many hardworking hands and minds who contributed to the success of the event through their support. We hope that next year, when Biology celebrates its 30th anniversary, we will be able to build on this success.
