MATHEMATICS (BACHELOR)
Bachelor of Science @ TU Dresden
The B.Sc. in Mathematics is a first university degree that qualifies for a profession. The standard period of study is 6 semesters (3 years) beginning in October. Classes are held in German. The admission requirement is the general or the subject-specific university entrance qualification - the German "Abitur" or "Fachabitur" or an equivalent foreign certificate.
The aim of the Bachelor's study programme is a comprehensive and broad basic knowledge in mathematics. You will be awarded the degree Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Mathematics). In your studies, you can set priorities though the
- choice of a minor subject
- choice of specialisation subjects in the third academic year
- choice of your final thesis (Bachelor thesis).
In addition to the bachelor's program in mathematics, there is also a bachelor's program in Mathematics in Business and Economics, which was designed specifically to provide specialization in this field.
Why study Mathematics in Dresden?

From the very beginning of the studies, you can benefit from the broad variety in teaching and research. In mathematics alone, you can choose from the study offers of six institutes: Institute of Algebra, Institute of Analysis, Institute of Geometry, Institute of Mathematical Stochastics, Institute of Numerical Mathematics, Institute of Scientific Computing.
A note about the language skills:
For German-language study programmes, international applicants and German applicants holding a foreign high school diploma must demonstrate their university entrance qualification in a language test. A language certificate is already to be submitted together with the application.
