Please complete the following form (including your signature) as soon as you have completed all the required achievements, and submit it, together with proof of the completed achievements, to the AQUA Officer of the Faculty of Mathematics (= student advisor for the Bachelor's degree programs in Mathematics and Business Mathematics, contact: see below):
Application for acceptance of achievements for the Math-Ba-AQUA module
Passing criteria
To pass the Math-Ba-AQUA module, 3 AQUA points must be acquired.
To do so, you must complete achievements in at least two of the three areas listed below. Apart from this regulation, you can decide for yourself which specific achievements you complete and when in the course of your studies you do so. For each of the three areas, the following explanations indicate how many AQUA points can be acquired by means of which achievements.
Area I: Language courses
For each language course successfully completed at TUDIAS or, if the scope is comparable, at another provider in a foreign language of your choice, 1 AQUA point is acquired. However, there is the following restriction: if two language courses are completed, both will only then be accepted for the AQUA module if the level of at least one of them corresponds to at least level B2+ or C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
For the acquisition of AQUA points, it is irrelevant which type of examination (written or oral) you have passed.
Area II: General studies ("studium generale")
- 1 AQUA point is acquired for each studium generale course at TU Dresden that you attend over the course of one semester. If the course has a scope of 4 SWS, 2 AQUA points are already acquired.
A certificate of attendance is sufficient; no examination is required. All achievements from the semester-related courses offered by studium generale are accepted for the AQUA module.
-
The TU Dresden lecture series and the TU Environmental Initiative (tuuwi) lecture series are considered equivalent to the studium generale courses.
Area III: Other possible activities
- Participation in continuing education programs at TU Dresden
1 AQUA point is acquired if participation in one or more continuing education programs at TU Dresden, e.g. on time management, presentation techniques or writing scientific papers, can be proven to the scope of 2 SWS over one semester or a total of 21 hours.
- Committee work
1 AQUA point is aquired if participation in a committee of TU Dresden or the Faculty of Mathematics, e.g. the Faculty Student Council, or in a university group accepted by the TU Dresden Student Council over a period of one year can be proven. By working for two years, 2 AQUA points are acquired accordingly.
- Participation in an artistic group at TU Dresden
1 AQUA point is acquired if participation in one of TU Dresden's artistic groups, e.g. the University Orchestra or the University Choir, over a period of one year can be proven. By participating for two years, 2 AQUA points are acquired accordingly.
-
Participation in sports activities offered by the Dresden University Sports Center
1 AQUA point is aquired if participation in one or more sports courses offered by the Dresden University Sports Center can be proven to the scope of 2 SWS over one semester or a total of 21 hours. - Activity as a student assistant at the Faculty of Mathematics, voluntary commitment
- 1 AQUA point is acquired if a total of 100 hours of working time can be proven by means of one employment or in total by means of several employments as a student assistant at the Faculty of Mathematics. The decisive factor in determining this value is the product of the weekly working hours agreed in the employment contract and the number of weeks in the contract period.
- If a total of 200 hours of working time can be proven, then 2 AQUA points are acquired accordingly.
- In the case of voluntary work for the Faculty of Mathematics, for example helping with public events such as the Dresden Science Night or the UNI-Day, the time spent on this (in hours) is treated in the same way as working time as a student assistant.
-
Student assistants who work as tutors and also take part in a basic qualification and in at least one in-depth workshop for specialist tutors at the Center for Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching acquire 1 or 2 AQUA points for a total of 70 or 100 hours of work already.
In the case of tutor activities, 70 hours correspond, for example, to one exercise of 2 SWS over one semester, 100 hours correspond, for example, to two exercises of 2 SWS each in the same course over one semester.
-
Supervision of internships for pupils
1 AQUA point is acquired if you supervise a 2-week internship for pupils or two 1-week internships for pupils at the Faculty of Mathematics. However, if you are employed as a student assistent for this supervision activity, the corresponding working hours will in this case not be added to the number of hours mentioned in the previous point "Activity as a student assistant at the Faculty of Mathematics".
If you are interested in supervising internships for pupils, please get in touch with the relevant contact persons at the Faculty of Mathematics. -
Company internship
-
1 AQUA point is acquired if a total of 4 weeks of full-time equivalent (FTE) internship time can be proved by means of a company internship outside the university, in which a subject-related connection to mathematics is recognizable, or in total by means of several such internships.
- If a total of 8 weeks FTE internship time can be proved, then 2 AQUA points are acquired accordingly.
-
- Completion of additional modules
The Completion of courses at TU Dresden that are not offered by the Faculty of Mathematics and are not part of the non-mathematical minor course are also accepted for the AQUA module.
If the course has a scope of at least 2 SWS, 1 AQUA point is acquired. If the course has a scope of at least 4 SWS, even 2 AQUA points are acqired.
Remarks
-
In principle, only signed or digitally signed certificates are accepted. In the case of activities as a student assistent, copies of employment contracts can also serve as proof of total working hours.
-
The AQUA Officer of the Faculty of Mathematics decides on the acceptance of achievements other than those listed above for the Math-Ba-AQUA module.
