About us
The support of the Equal Opportunities Officer of the Faculty of Physics and her deputy can be called upon by the employees and students of the faculty in all matters concerning equal opportunities. We try to actively work towards establishing equal opportunities for all faculty members and to avoid individual disadvantages for employees and students. We also meet regularly with the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Carsten Timm, with Dr. Uta Bilow (member of the Senate for the Academic Mittelbau, IKTP) and with Dr. Hyejung Stöckinger-Kim (member of the Senate Commission for Equality and Diversity Management, IKTP) to agree on and implement important goals and current activities in the Faculty in matters of equality.
In the Physics Faculty Council, the Equal Opportunity Officers have a voice in decision-making. We report regularly at the meetings of the Faculty Council on all equality issues in the faculty and respond to inquiries. We are involved in all appointment procedures of professors at the faculty with the right to speak and make motions and give a vote on the announcement of the professorship as well as on the list proposal of the appointment committee. In the hiring of scientific and science-supporting personnel, we can submit proposals and give opinions. In the case of the permanent employment of academic mid-level staff, we prepare a vote that is attached to the documents for the decision-making process in the collegium of the School of Science. In conflict situations and in decisions on career paths, we provide confidential and individual advice to faculty members and students.
Within the circle of equal opportunity representatives of the School of Science, we assert the interests of all members of the Faculty of Physics when awarding financial resources for the implementation of the equal opportunities mandates. Therefore, our work is along with the prerelease of the equal opportunities concept of the TU Dresden, updated in 2019.
