Administratively, the Student Council is considered to be the student division of the faculty. Students are supplied with information that is relevant to study in general, or to individuals. Contact with official university bodies occurs through the student council, which is elected once a year by you, the students. Any student in the faculty can become a member, even without an election.
The long-term goal of the student council is to improve conditions for study, whether that means trying to officially change the study or examination regulations, or "only" discuss organizational difficulties, e.g. of lectures or lab courses.
Mentoring Programme
In the process of creating the physics degree courses, special attention was given the point of facilitating the transition to university for beginning students. Among other things, this is realised by the mentoring programme for physics bachelor and physics education students, which is supposed to guide the students for several years from the beginning of the course programme onwards.
In small groups consisting of students of different terms ("Mentees"), who are coached by a professor and other students already in a higher semester ("mentors"), the contact between students and professors should be improved and insight into the work of physicists should be gained. Participation in the mentoring programme is particularly recommended for Master students who have obtained a Bachelor's degree from a university other than TU Dresden.
The mentoring programme is organized by the Student Council in cooperation with the Dean of Studies. On its website the Student Council offers detailed informations and an online registration for this programme.
