Students Council and Mentoring
In organizational terms, the Faculty Student Council is the student section of the Department.
Students are provided with information that is relevant to their studies in general or for individuals. Contact with official university committees takes place via the FSR, which you would like to elect once a year. Any student in the Department can become a member, even without being elected.
The long-term goal is to improve study conditions, regardless of whether study and examination regulations need to be rewritten or there is "just" a problem with the physics internship.
Mentoring program
When designing the physics degree programs, particular attention was paid to making the transition to university easier for first-year students. This is achieved, among other things, by the mentoring program of the Department of Physics, which accompanies both Bachelor of Physics and teacher training students from the beginning of their studies for several years.
In small, cross-semester mentor groups, which are supervised by a university lecturer and student mentors, the aim is to improve contact between students and lecturers and provide insights into the working methods of physicists. From the 13/14 academic year, a Master's mentoring group is also planned, which is particularly recommended for external Master's students (no Bachelor's at TU Dresden).
The Faculty Student Council organizes the mentoring program in cooperation with the Dean of Studies and provides detailed information with online registration options on its website.
