Behavior between perseveration and volatility: The cross-situational and cross-application system structure beyond meta-control parameters
We investigate the dynamics of functionally separated sub-systems that implement a balance between perseveration and volatility. We apply models of system dynamics and empirical studies of behavioral dynamics and neural dynamics and observe and perturb the behavior of the cognitive system to understand how this balance arises in different systems depending on the situation, also investigating application-oriented situations that represent everyday work situations. In this way, we identify generalizable principles that expand our understanding of the processes underlying dysfunctional behavior and mental disorders.
