September 20, 2023: As part of the first “Gorbitz Dialog,” pupils from the Gymnasium Dresden-Gorbitz high school and other members of the school community and the district participated in a discussion with scientist Dr. Tino Schmiel (TU Dresden, Institute of Aerospace Engineering). The topic of the evening’s discussion was the satellite project of the high school’s science courses, which was developed in collaboration with TU Dresden’s DLR_School_Lab under the direction of Dr. Janina Hahn. After the pupils presented the project, Dr. Schmiel explained that scientists also make mistakes, learn from them and are sometimes surprised by their own discoveries.
September 6, 2023: First meet-up of the Saxon partner schools on campus.
The Gymnasium Dresden-Gorbitz high school in Dresden has been a partner school of TU Dresden since July 2023. Moreover, the Gymnasium Dresden-Gorbitz has been a STEM-friendly school since September 2023. We look forward to working more closely together in the future.

The Pestalozzi-Gymnasium Heidenau high school in Dresden has been a partner school of TU Dresden since June 2023. The agreement has been signed by Prof. Kobel, Vice-Rector Academic Affairs of TU Dresden and Mr. Clausnitzer, Principal of the school. We look forward to working more closely together in the future!
In April 2023, we signed our first cooperation agreement with a German school in another country. The Colegio Alemán Alexander v. Humboldt is a STEM-friendly school in Mexico City. We look forward to working closely together in the future!
March 2023 In the second half of the 2022/23 academic year, pupils from our partner schools were invited to the campus for a whole day to experience science for themselves-Engineering sciences for a liveable future.
Researchers and students from TU Dresden showed what they are currently working on. Engineering sciences, always a good starting point for tinkering and creative solutions to problems of all kinds, took center stage at the event. Students also had the opportunity to discover the campus and exchange ideas and experiences with students about studying.
This event takes place every two weeks in the second half of the academic year on TU Dresden’s campus. Pupils can register for the event via the responsible teacher at their school.

Interested in a partnership with TU Dresden?
With the caveat that certain requirements are met, TU Dresden is prepared to enter into cooperative agreements with interested schools. The overarching goal of a cooperative agreement is to guarantee collaboration between the school and TU Dresden in science communication, the participation in and enabling of research processes, supporting pupils in selecting the right career and degree program, as well as the reinforcement of the qualifications of teacher training students and teaching staff.

STEM-friendly and digital schools
TU Dresden is a sponsor to the network “MINT Zukunft schaffen!” (Creating a STEM-friendly future!), helping STEM-friendly and digital schools to pique pupils’ interest in STEM subjects. To this end, we offer the network schools targeted, easy-to-understand resources for teaching pupils early on about the exciting content and prospects of a degree in a STEM subject.

Schools with a focus on climate change and sustainability
From materials and videos for lessons to partners for in-school and extracurricular projects to new concepts for the classroom, TU Dresden’s research in sustainability and environment offers a swath of novel ideas for lesson planning. We also regularly invite schools to TU Dresden to present current research on ESD projects they can get involved in. Please contact us if you are interested.
