Admission requirements

The prerequisite is an initial degree from a university, institute of higher education or vocational academy that is recognised in Germany, particularly in one of the following engineering programmes: mechanical engineering, process engineering, chemical engineering. On top of this, proof of skills comparable to those acquired in the following courses are required: fundamentals of mathematics, mathematics for engineering, special chapters of mathematics, technical mechanics, fundamentals of kinematics and kinetics, fundamentals of fluid mechanics, technical thermodynamics/heat transfer, fundamentals of electrical engineering, construction theory, computer science, fundamentals of chemistry, physical chemistry and biochemistry, introduction to process engineering and natural product engineering, fundamentals of materials engineering of the Diplom degree programme for process engineering and natural product engineering.

German language requirements

International applicants and German applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification are kindly advised to read the requirements for German-language courses.

General information about the degree program

Students with a first academic degree in process engineering, chemical engineering or mechanical engineering are enabled to obtain special skills for analysing and solving complex problems in the field of process engineering and natural materials technology. The graduates acquire the necessary scientific and engineering skills for their future professional experience, and they are able to communicate with neighbouring disciplines such as mechanical engineering, energy processing, or materials technology. The learning course "Basic principles of process engineering and natural materials technology", „Fluid mechanics“ and „Automatisation technology“ help to deepen their understanding for further specialisation. This specialisation comprises five importat fields withij process engineering and natural materials technology: Generic process engineering, bioprocess engineering, chemical engineering, wood and fibre technology, and food engineering.
