In the summer semester 2023 you can participate in presence and online workshops of the Writing Center from April to mid-July: Our tutors will support you in academic writing - specifically for your current writing project or in preparation for your next writing assignment.
You can register for these workshops through OPAL.

Workshops in the summer term 2023
Series of events for Studium Generale
From april 5th to July 19th the Writing Center of the TU Dresden and the SLUB offer a joint series of events on the basics of scientific reading and writing (events in German).
When and where:
- on Wednesdays, 4th double period (1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.), online
For participating in the event series you can acquire 1 to 2 CP for the General Qualification area (Allgemeine Qualifikation - AQua) or 2 CP for "teacher training". It is of course also possible to only participate in individual events of the series.

You can register for single workshops or for receiving a certificate of attendence/achievement via OPAL.
Workshops in English language "Basics of scientific writing"
In the summer term, the writing center offers two workshops in English language which are tailored to the needs of international students. Here you can register for these workshops.
Workshop 1 "How to structure a scientific text"
The workshop will touch on the following topics:
- basics of the writing process
- phases of the writing process
- structure of an academic text
- the modell IMRaD
When and where:
- April 13th 2023, 4th double period (1:00 - 2:30 pm), online
- April 24th 2023, 6th double period (4:40 - 6:10 pm), online
- May 5th 2023, 5th double period (2:50 - 4:20 pm), online
Workshop 2 "Don't fear the empty page: Getting into writing"
The workshop will touch on the following topics:
- basics of getting into writing
- writing strategies and types of writers
- methods for getting into writing
- brief overview on how to edit text
- brief introduction to time management for writing projects
When and where:
- May 8th 2023, 5th double period (2:50 - 4:20 pm), online
- May 25th 2023, 3th double period (11:10 - 12:40 am), online
- June 12th 2023, 6th double period (4:40 - 6:10 pm), online

More SZD-Workshops (classroom setting)
In the summer semster 2023, there will be workshops on scientific reading and writing in a face-to-face setting. We will publish the exact workshop titles and dates on this page in April. To not miss out, enroll on this interest list.
The Career Service, the Central Student Information and Counselling Service of TU Dresden and the SLUB offer regularly an extensive workshop program on other key competence topics (mostly in German):

We also offer you the one-week stress management course "STRESSenziell" on OPAL (workload approx. 10-20 min per day).
