Weeks of Responsibility: Over 40 Free Events for Participation and Learning
Die Wochen der Verantwortung im November bieten zahlreiche Möglichkeiten, sich mit Themen auseinanderzusetzen, die das Miteinander auf dem Campus prägen.
In November, TUD Dresden University of Technology is offering more than 40 free participatory and educational events as part of the "Weeks of Responsibility". Students and staff can get involved in topics such as diversity, mental health, sustainability and children's rights. Highlights include the Diversity Days, events on mental health and a programme to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November.
Get involved in issues close to your heart: More than 40 free participatory and educational events invite students and staff to the “Weeks of Responsibility”. They offer plenty of opportunities to explore topics that shape our shared experience on campus and beyond. To make this happen, the University Culture Department is once again combining its forces and collaborating with numerous partners.
Diversity Days: Making invisible realities visible
From November 2 to 7, the Diversity Days will take place under the motto "What we don't see – Invisible realities on campus". The focus is on topics that are often hidden yet still shape the daily lives of many people at the university. Whether it’s invisible disabilities, discrimination, chronic illnesses, caregiving responsibilities, mental health challenges, or financial insecurity. A varied programme invites participants to exchange ideas and reflect.
Career pressure, exam stress, a part-time job? Many students struggle to juggle all their responsibilities. That’s why, in November, the University Health Management is offering numerous events focused on student mental health. One highlight is the event “How It Works: When Your Resume Becomes Part of Your Studies—How to Leave Career Pressure Behind in the Lecture Hall,” held in cooperation with ZEIT CAMPUS on November 4. A second focus is on men’s health.
To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25, TUD is raising awareness of gender-based violence and sexism through a wide-ranging program of events. Campus walks, lunch talks, and workshops will demonstrate practical ways to address sexual violence, harassment, and discrimination. The continuing education series “Courage—Know, See, Act” also aims to promote a university culture that is sensitive to discrimination.
Sustainability in practice
In the area of sustainability, the Weeks of Responsibility offer not only networking opportunities but also hands-on activities. Whether at the Repair Café or the Maker Vision Board—the motto is: What seems discarded or broken isn’t useless; instead, it can be repaired or transformed into something completely new.
A sparkling end-of-year programme for children
To wrap up the year with a little sparkle, the University Cultural Deparment—in cooperation with Städtische Bibliotheken Dresden—invites curious children to the Kulturpalast, continuing a beloved tradition: At the children’s Q&A show “Who’s in Charge Here?” on Children’s Rights Day, November 21, any question is fair game. And at the Children’s University Special on December 8, it’s all about the Christmas tree.
