Transformation of Directorate 8 into the Center for Academic Affairs Across the Life Course
Table of contents
The current Directorate 8—Student Affairs and Continuing Education—will be reorganized as a division of the Vice-Rector Academic Affairs Across the Life Course (PBL) effective August 1, 2026. With this realignment, responsibilities related to undergraduate studies, academic quality, professional development, and lifelong learning will be even more closely integrated and strategically developed together in the future. The goal of this realignment is to strengthen the university’s ability to shape sustainable educational trajectories. To this end, responsibilities throughout the course of study and educational journey will be strategically coordinated without compromising the autonomy and specific expertise of the participating units.
To this end, the division brings together three independent units with different tasks and responsibilities. Together, they shape the central framework conditions for studies, teaching, and lifelong learning throughout the educational journey of prospective students, current students, faculty, and other learners.
The specific details of this collaboration, as well as the organizational allocation of individual tasks, will be further developed in the coming months in cooperation with the Office of the Vice-Rector Academic Affairs Across the Life Course, the Heads of Units, and the staff. The full transition to the new structure is scheduled for January 1, 2027.
