Franziska Rauscher graduated from the Olberhau grammar school and is a physics student.
Who is Franziska Rauscher
That's why I decided to study at TU Dresden: | Because I was able to get to know TU Dresden through some physics events before I started my studies and felt very well looked after here. Above all, I like the broad spectrum of specialization and research opportunities that the TU offers. |
That inspires me: | I find elementary particle physics in particular incredibly interesting. It's fascinating to investigate what the world around us is made of and why we can exist the way we do. |
STEM means to me: | Research, innovation, international collaboration, interdisciplinarity and openness |
I want to be able to answer these question(s) after my studies: | I want to understand how our world works at the most fundamental level. To do this, I want to build up a basic understanding that I can deepen further after my studies. |
If you have a message for prospective and/or first-year students, what would it be? | STEM degree programs are very demanding, especially in the first semesters, but if you have a strong motivation for your studies, you can do it. From my point of view, the most important thing is not to lose sight of your motivation, then you can get through your studies. |

Who is Ambrosius Göttsch
That's why I decided to study at the TU Dresden: | Because I can return to my place of birth and still not have such a long journey home. I also like the beauty of the city and its surroundings. The TUD as a University of Excellence and the close cooperation and support with schools in the area also convinced me with the will to promote young people. |
That inspires me: | Finding solutions to problems, as well as building the entire computational structure of evaluating scientific experiments and the basis of today's physical understanding of our universe. |
STEM means to me: | A cycle of problems, solutions and new problems again to expand human understanding of the big picture. |
I was totally surprised in my first semester: | How fundamentally the lectures are structured and how motivated all fellow students are. In addition, the degree of freedom from choosing modules to dropping out takes some getting used to compared to school. |
I would like to be able to answer these question(s) after my studies: | What new questions can I ask and even answer that I can't even ask now? |
If you have a message for prospective and/or first-year students, what is it? | Prepare for a change and do something fun, even outside of your studies. |
Emily Pilz is 19 years old, graduated from high school in Döbeln and is studying Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the TUD
Who is Emily Pilz
That's why I decided to study at the TU Dresden: |
When choosing TUD, the proximity to my home town played a role for me on the one hand, but I was particularly attracted by the subject breadth of the degree program, which combines parts of both biology and biotechnology and therefore also offers a wide range of future prospects. The research institutes, such as the CMSB, were also a reason for my decision. |
That inspires me: | I find it exciting to try out new things. Due to my enthusiasm for plants, a small plant empire is gradually developing in my apartment. Sport is also a great way for me to balance my everyday life. |
STEM means to me: | That new doors are constantly opening that change the way I look at the (surrounding) world. |
