New City Concepts - Urban development for Hoyerswerda
When: Wednesday, 25.06.2025, 16:00-17:30
Where: University Executive Board (Festsaal), Mommsenstraße 11, 01069 Dresden
Brief description: The "New City Concepts" (NCC) project aimed to develop innovative, integrative and participatory approaches for the future urban development of Hoyerswerda. Part of this is the redesign of the former secondary school grounds at the planetarium in Neustadt, which was worked on with landscape architecture students in the main project. Particular focus was placed on how to deal with the demolition of the socialist residential complex, demographic developments, especially ageing, as well as future issues such as climate-adapted plant selection and rainwater management. The students actively involved the residents of Hoyerswerda in their planning processes by accompanying participation procedures. The basic aim was to look at all the different issues together, analyze possible conflicts and then develop an overarching concept.
