GFF meets "..." - New series of events starts on March
Under the title "GFF meets ..." we want to present selected projects, people, Schools or faculties of TU Dresden to give a lively insight into the work of our university.
The kick-off event will be designed by one of the teaching award winners of the past academic year - Alejandro de Castro Mazarro. The teaching team of Professor Wolfgang Wende is particularly concerned with questions of sustainability in the field of architecture and especially in urban planning. After the lecture there will be the possibility to ask questions to the speaker. At the same time, we will have the opportunity to get to know the world's first house made of carbon concrete as a venue for the event. We look forward to this new event format.
"GFF meets teaching award winner Alejandro de Castro Mazzaro - From efficiency to sufficiency of cities: planning steps for a sustainable transformation."
When: Wednesday, March 22, 2023, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Where: Cube - Carbonbetonhaus, Einsteinstraße 12, 01069 Dresden, Germany
Description: What is architecture's response to the climate crisis? According to the mainstream of architectural culture, it seems to be a mix of technological solutions and climate-friendly lifestyles. However, at the margins of academic discourse, a larger consensus is growing that the logic of the entire building sector needs to be changed - from an urbanization narrative based on the development of ever more advanced technologies to one based on the absolute reduction of resource consumption. This presentation will describe the environmental principles of both positions, as well as some initial examples of sufficiency-oriented architectural and urban interventions aimed at both climate resilience and climate justice.
Attendance: As the number of available seats in the Carbonhaus is limited, please register for this event by 10/03/2023 via email at gff@mailbox.tu-dresden.de or by phone at 0351/46334442.
Please take note that this event is held in german.
