Sponsored benches enrich the TU Dresden campus
Team des Career Service der TU Dresden auf der gestifteten Bank am König-Bau
It is thanks to the commitment of a number of donors that 11 new benches have enriched the TU Dresden campus. This includes the TU Dresden Career Service team, which has taken on the sponsorship of a bench at the König-Bau.
The selected locations for the new benches are along central pathways, such as Kastanienallee at the Auditorium Center and between Mommsenstraße and the core campus past the TU-Was-Pfad. The Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt - Institut für Softwaremethoden zur Produkt-Virtualisierung donated three benches for the outdoor area at the Andreas Pfitzmann Building. Another two new benches are located at the seminar building, Zellescher Weg 20. At the Zeuner Building, the former workplace of Prof. Volker Ulbricht, colleagues and companions also donated a bench in memory of their "Ulbi".

The installation of benches as a meeting place, a place of communication or a place to pause for a moment represents another milestone in the implementation of the campus design master plan. The Association of Friends and Sponsors of TU Dresden - GFF for short - provided the impetus for the realization. On the occasion of its 30th anniversary of its re-founding as a support association of TU Dresden, it launched a fundraising campaign in December 2021 under the title "Patenbänke für den Campus". And the response was impressive: thanks to this joint campaign, it was possible to commission the production of 19 benches.
Vice-Rector University Culture, Professor Roswitha Böhm, thanked all the sponsors for their commitment at the presentation ceremony. The reasons for this may be very different, but - whether alumni, lecturers, employees or network partners - they all visibly express their close ties to TU Dresden.
