GFF meets - Artificial intelligence in schools
On March 21, 2024, GFF members and guests had the opportunity to find out more about an exciting teaching project in the field of teacher training at TU Dresden. As part of the GFF meets series, Dagmar Oertel, Dr. Anja Mede-Schelenz, Stephanie Richter and Fritz Hoffmann gave vivid insights into the topic of "How artificial intelligence could positively change the school of tomorrow - opportunities, challenges, risks".
Artificial intelligence is a rapidly developing field that will determine the future. It is important that prospective teachers also familiarize themselves with current technologies and trends so that they can best prepare students for the demands of the digital world. On the other hand, students themselves are constantly engaging with artificial intelligence applications and actively using them for schoolwork and essays, for example. Teachers must therefore be aware of the possible uses of artificial intelligence in order to develop a critical awareness of the opportunities and risks among their students.
After an overview of the practical field of application of artificial intelligence in the school context, the Advisors and speakers will present their sub-projects. For example, a poem interpretation using ChatGPT was tried out together with participants of the lateral entry programs for the teaching profession. In the discussion that followed, other areas of application such as lesson design and the potential of using artificial intelligence in schools were discussed.
