The tryING trial course gives you an insight into studying engineering at TUD. Female high school graduates take part in university life and attend various workshops in addition to the preliminary mathematics course and research the ideas and technologies of the future. The preliminary math course will give you the best possible start to your studies and interesting excursions to companies in Dresden and the surrounding area will show you how varied the everyday working life of a female engineer can be. In addition, you will meet female students from engineering degree programs to exchange experiences.

Nele and the trial study tryING

Are you about to graduate from high school and interested in studying engineering? Are you still unsure whether you would prefer to study mechanical engineering, computer science or electrical engineering? TU Dresden has a trial course for young women called tryING. Nele tried it out and talks about her experiences in the film To the video

The tryING trial course includes the following modules:

• Mathematics preliminary course
• workshops
• excursions
• Networking opportunities

The tryING trial study program is just the thing for young women who have a high school diploma and are interested in a career in engineering.

"tryING is aimed at female high school graduates who are interested in studying engineering but are still undecided," says Dr. Sylvi Bianchin, coordinator of STEM projects at TUD. "In our experience, many people doubt, usually wrongly, whether they can do it. With the trial course, we want to encourage young women and show them the diversity and attractive career opportunities in engineering."

Artificial intelligence, technical design, acoustics and voice communication are just a small selection of the topics that the participants will learn about in the workshops. tryING is organized in such a way that there is still enough time afterwards to enrol on an engineering degree course at TUD for the winter semester 2026/27.
