Study and Apprenticeship at ZIH
In addition to its extensive range of services and research program ZIH staff also serve as professors and lecturers in the Computer Science department. ZIH offers courses in the field of computer architecture, data analytics, and bio-mathematics.
The computer architecture professorship (see "At a Glance") offers a variety of interesting topics for diploma thesis to students.
Furthermore, the ZIH offers a three-year apprenticeship as an IT specialist focusing on application development.
Education with fun
Each semester the ZIH offers a series of courses on computer architecture that is paired with a professorship of "Computer Architecture" at the Institute for Technical Informatics. Theoretical knowledge related to computer architecture and high-performance computing are taught in lectures. In seminars and practicals, what was learned in lectures can be applied. In particular, access to HPC resources are granted to students.
The target groups are students of Informatics, Media Informatics, Information Technology, Computational Science and Engineering and Mathematics. Students from other engineering courses are also welcome.
In addition to the courses on computer architecture and high performance computing, lectures in the field of bioinformatics are also offered. Research in bioinformatics is a focus of the ZIH. These lectures and seminars are suitable for students and graduates in biology, mathematics, physics, medicine, computer science and beyond.
Detailed information can be found on the web pages of the Chair of "Computer Architecture" and the website of the group "Innovative methods of Computing".
If you need more practice, you can be trained by the ZIH in a three-year apprenticeship as an IT specialist. Our focus is on programming and modifying existing software modules. Of course, we cover all ground within the network and hardware area.
