Students and lecturers interested in research can apply for financial support for student research at TU Dresden through the FOSTER program.
Objectives of FOSTER:
- Introducing students to research and academic culture,
- Strengthening interdisciplinarity,
- Establishing university-wide incentive structures for student research,
- Rewarding the commitment of lecturers to student research projects,
- Attracting excellent young researchers.

The Teaching Synergies Program (TSP) systematically integrates (early-career) researchers of DRESDEN-concept into research-oriented teaching at TUD. This is achieved through joint teaching activities.
The program is aimed at:
- (Early-career) Researchers of DRESDEN-concept who aspire to a career at a university and would like to gain experience and qualifications in university teaching and university didactics.
- Lecturers at TU Dresden who are interested in cooperations with researchers of DRESDEN-concept or who would like to further develop already existing cooperations in the context of joint teaching activities.
As part of the TSP, lecturers and (early-career) researchers of DRESDEN-concept can profit from individual support and coaching in didactic questions regarding (research-oriented) teaching throughout the semester.
This includes e.g.:
- Individual coaching and didactic support in the context of research-oriented teaching
- Individual coaching and didactic support for Tandem-Teaching
- Conducting a Teaching Analysis Poll (TAP) for an interim evaluation of the course
The goal of the program is to integrate content and processes of excellent research (e.g. from Clusters of Excellence, Collaborative Research Centers, DRESDEN-concept partner institutions or DFG-funded projects) in the form of elective modules in so-called Teaching Excellence Tracks in existing or newly established degree programs.
In this way, a research-guided and interdisciplinary range of courses with attractive, internationally compatible teaching-learning methods is developed for students interested in cutting-edge research. These research-focused tracks integrate the (digital) research infrastructures into teaching at TU Dresden.
The program is aimed at:
- Students who aspire to an academic career and are interested in interdisciplinary research.
- Lecturers who offer research-guided courses in order to attract early-career researchers to their fields.
The Teaching Excellence Tracks (TET) are a completely new offer, which is currently in the design phase. They will be developed individually and collaboratively; structures and content will be tailored to the needs of the researchers. Concept ideas and suggestions are always welcome. The opportunities for participation are manifold; they range from the development and implementation of research-guided, teaching-learning methods, to the development of entire research-guided modules; from dedicated committee work to course design for the implementation of the Teaching Excellence Tracks.
Die Programme werden vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) und dem Freistaat Sachsen im Rahmen der Exzellenzstrategie von Bund und Ländern gefördert.
