Workshops
Teaching and learning with and via digital media? Teaching of interdisciplinary goals of media education and digitalization? Subject-related and interdisciplinary implementation?
The employees offer various workshops for teachers and students in the teacher training program and the side entry program BQL of the TU Dresden as well as for the further education and training of established teachers. The workshops can be requested both as individual offerings and for integration into your own courses.
Our offer for you!
Anyone studying to become a teacher and working in schools nowadays should be qualified to use digital media in the classroom in a way that is effective for learning. The workshop offered here provides the opportunity to try out a selected web-based application and to discuss possible potentials for classroom use (especially with regard to effective support of learning processes).
The services linked to Schullogin represent the offer for this workshop, which can be designed in different lengths (from 60 to 120 minutes). It is particularly suitable for integration into seminars of educational science and didactics or as further training for teachers, for example as part of a pedagogical day.

The Free State of Saxony provides a selection of digital tools to support Saxon schools in their pedagogical work. In the workshop "Supporting learning digitally - with the central services at Saxon schools", the lecturers provide an insight into the central Saxon entry portal Schullogin and show how this is used to access centrally offered services such as video conferencing systems, learning platforms or cooperatively usable text editors. This system is available to all Saxon schools and allows access for teachers, trainee teachers and students via the website https://www.schullogin.de.
The introduction shows how to use Schullogin to access the centrally provided digital services. In addition, brief insights into the respective services are given. Following this overview, questions about operation and didactic use in school and distance learning can be discussed.
The workshop is particularly suitable for integration into seminars of educational sciences and subject didactics, for example to prepare students for practical school studies or as further training for teachers, for example in the context of a pedagogical day. The duration of the workshop is 90 minutes. The workshop can be conducted both as a face-to-face offering in a PC pool and as a digital offering via video conference.

In the workshop Moodle will be presented in its basic structure and with the possibilities of its use in the classroom or in the school. This includes concrete teaching-learning scenarios and examples from everyday school life. Under guidance, the participants will be able to try out functions independently using their own test account or one provided by the school.
The Moodle of Sächsischer Bildungsserver is available to all Saxon schools and allows access for teachers, trainee teachers and students.

A school homepage is still an essential element for the external image of a school. Thus, it is possible to present school-specific features in a sustainable way. To simplify the creation and technical maintenance, Sächsischer Bildungsserver provides schools in Saxony with the multi-client capable content management system (CMS) TYPO3, a kind of homepage construction kit. When using it, the school can essentially concentrate on creating the content for the homepage.
In an introductory workshop, an overview of the application process and use of the SchulCMS can be given.
The SchulCMS is available to all schools in Saxony.

minimehl.de is an environment for simulating and practicing e-mail communication in class. The target group is Internet beginners who - for whatever reason - are not to be given a "real" e-mail address as part of their education. This includes students in lower grades or at special schools.
One conceivable variant of the teaching procedure is to let the students find out among themselves who has which address - without talking about it, of course. Minimehl is also suitable for training the use of electronic communication in ethics lessons, for example!

In the "Introduction to the media lab" workshop, you will gain a comprehensive insight into the equipment and possibilities that the media lab at the ZLSB offers lateral entrants, student teachers and lecturers working in the teaching profession. You will be familiarised with the GreenScreen technology and given an overview of the podcast area, the explanatory film boxes and the editing workstation for audiovisual media. You are welcome to take the opportunity to talk to the BQL.digital team about the workshops available in the media lab during the event and book a workshop if you wish.

More and more school students are using YouTube videos as a learning resource. The short learning videos on this platform are highly relevant to the everyday lives of children and young people. In addition, explanatory videos offer school students the opportunity to better understand and memorise complex concepts. Additional advantages such as the option of repeated, time-independent viewing, individual fast forwarding, pausing and adjusting the volume also support the learning process. By creating or editing their own film sequences, school students can develop their creativity, experience a sense of self-efficacy and further develop their media skills.

However, teachers who want to create explanatory videos with their school students need to familiarise themselves with the technology and didactics behind the topic. To this purpose, a special workshop concept was developed to help interested student teachers and lateral entrants understand the practical implementation of the entire process of creating explanatory videos. Participants choose a topic from the curriculum and create a short explanatory video lasting no more than one minute. Beforehand, they think about the key messages for their topic and acquire the necessary knowledge about the topic and the technology. After a brief theoretical introduction, the workshop moves directly into the practical phase. All the necessary materials, such as trick film boxes, craft materials, play figures, tablets, apps, tripods, lighting and a handout with a storyboard template are provided during the workshop. So there's nothing stopping them from producing their video. The workshop participants will create storyboards and realise their video concepts using the cutout animation or stop-motion technique.
The workshop takes place in the media lab at the ZLSB, but can also be held in a seminar room.

The green screen technique is not only known from science fiction films and big cinema blockbusters, but is also popular as an exchangeable zoom background. But is it possible to use it creatively with school students, even with limited resources? In our workshop, we not only offer an introduction to the green screen technique, but also realise creative ideas together with the participants: Beam yourselves to mars, travel in a jerky tram or fly with the wild geese - anything is possible! The workshop not only covers the technical realisation, but also includes a discussion on how green screen technology can be effectively integrated into school lessons.
The workshop will take place in the media lab at the ZLSB.
