Become a tutor
Why become a tutor?
As a student teacher, you have the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience during your studies - and in a role that prepares you perfectly for your future career. As a tutor, you will support other students as a learning guide, develop your teaching skills and strengthen competencies such as moderation, organization and responsibility - all of which are essential for your future professional life.
Your benefits at a glance
- Collect credit points: Your activity will count towards supplementary studies, e.g. 4 basic points in the area of service learning "Combining academic content with social engagement"
- Financial bonus: With the tutor allowance, you can earn up to a fixed amount tax-free as a tutor, regardless of your BaföG rate or part-time job/mini-job (if documented in your employment contract).
- Career preparation: You acquire additional skills and competencies that go beyond the content of your studies and optimally prepare you for your professional career.
Your start as a tutor
Your start begins with a basic didactic and methodological qualification with our cooperation partner TUTORING - enrollment takes place at OPAL. After the training, you will work as a tutor under a SHK contract (usually 5 hours/week).
Your tasks include
- Support with the start of your studies (e.g. timetabling, study organization).
- Planning and implementation of study-supporting, interdisciplinary workshops for student teachers in team teaching (e.g. semester-accompanying reflection sessions)
- Advice and support with study organization issues.
During the semester, you will be accompanied and supported by the Teacher Academic Affairs Office.
