Center for Teacher Education and Educational Research (German abbreviation: ZLSB)
The ZLSB is a central interdisciplinary institution of TU Dresden with around 70 employees. It works across all faculties in the coordination of teacher training as well as in the coordination of teacher training and further education programs at TU Dresden. The mission statement adopted by all supporting faculties (as of 2019) makes the interdisciplinary work of teacher training at TU Dresden particularly clear. At the same time, the ZLSB initiates and coordinates research projects in the field of teacher training, school and vocational education research.
In its service area, the ZLSB supports around 4,000 teacher training students at TU Dresden by, among other things, helping to design study and examination regulations, coordinating practical school studies with a didactic focus, coordinating the range of courses offered in supplementary studies and providing teacher-related study advice, especially on changing subjects or courses. The Teacher Training Academic Affairs Office on the 2nd floor of Seminar Building II at Zellescher Weg 20 serves as a central point of contact. The Examination Office, which is responsible for the administration of examinations for teacher training courses, is also part of the Teacher Training Office.
In the field of research, the ZLSB supports, among other things, the qualification of teachers in the Free State of Saxony within the framework of in-service academic training (lateral entry).
