Important information for first semester students

The induction week includes activities to get to know the university, the faculty, the student council and your mentors. It comprises five full days in attendance:
Induction week 06.10. - 10.10.2025 (Architecture and Landscape Architecture).

Dear first-year students of the Architecture and Landscape Architecture degree programs,
We are delighted that you have decided to study at our faculty and would like to welcome you to the TUD Dresden University of Technology.
You will receive all the necessary information about your studies during the introductory week, called ESE, which will take place all day from Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10, 2025 with offers from the student council. We would like to cordially invite you to this week.

On 08.10.25 at 8:00 a.m. the introduction and activation will take place in Bamberger Straße 1 (2nd/4th floor) for the workrooms there. This applies to all architecture freshmen and all new students in the Landscape Architecture Bachelor's program, who are divided into groups that will only be published here shortly before the week due to the registration deadlines. Please have your CampusCard (student ID) and your ZIH login data ready on 08.10.25 in Bamberger Straße.

General information about starting your studies

Matriculation ceremony

The matriculation ceremony for first-year students in the winter semester 2025/26 is planned for Thursday, 09.10.25, 15:00. The event will be offered as a hybrid event, in the Auditorium Center, as a public viewing and livestream.

Materials

You will receive the most important material for your studies from the Faculty Student Council (see below). All materials needed for the start of your studies can be purchased on Tuesday after the campus tour, please bring €45 in cash.

Workrooms Architecture Diploma, Landscape Architecture Bachelor

On 08.10.25 at 8:00 a.m. the introduction and activation will take place in Bamberger Straße 1 (2nd/4th floor) for the workrooms there. This applies to all Architecture first semester students and all new students in the Landscape Architecture Bachelor.

Faculty Student Council - first semester page

Faculty Student Council

The Faculty Student Council is an elected student representation of all architecture and landscape architecture students at TU Dresden. Up to 20 members are elected annually and support and advise prospective and current students before and during their studies.
The FSR organizes the sale of materials, the campus tour and much more at the start of studies.

Examination Office

The Examination Office deals with all examination matters, but also plays a major role when it comes to student grants or illness.

• OPAL
  The OPAL platform is an interactive e-learning environment in which course materials can be exchanged.

• SELMA
  Study documents can be accessed on the SELMA platform, where you can also register and deregister for modules, courses and examinations.
  
  Here you will find detailed instructions on SELMA and how to organize your studies.

  From 06.10.25 you can register for the modules and courses of the orientation year under Studies - Registration - Modules/Courses. Instructions will be provided in the course of the ESE.

Construction site internship

It is recommended that you complete the work placement before starting your studies. Under the link you will find the contact persons for advice, the internship regulations, the list of recognizable activities, information on social insurance and accident insurance, as well as forms.
