97. BauFak at the TU Dresden
About 50 committed active and former representatives of the faculty of civil and environmental engineering met last weekend for the conference of the faculty of civil engineering (Baufak). Organizer of the 97th Baufak was the student council of the faculty of civil engineering of the TU Dresden. With elaborate transmission technology it was possible to offer all participants of the event, which took place hybrid both on site and online, an immersive experience. With a live image and sound mix from presence to online and vice versa, our faculty thus immediately set new standards for hybrid events in times of pandemic. "It felt like you were in the room yourself" said several online participants.
It was no coincidence that the organizers considered it important to have a well thought-out transmission of the conference and, above all, the possibility of unrestricted participation for online guests as well: online teaching and online examinations are currently shaping teaching at universities, and this was one of the important topics of the conference. In addition, various student bodies were newly elected or presented, it was about the cooperation with unions, accreditation issues and the open exchange & networking. Our student council was supported by the association "Freunde des Bauingenieurwesens", the IG Bau, the faculty of civil engineering, the DGB and the VSTR AG.
BauFaK has been around for 50 years, and proposals/papers from the plenum have already been discussed in the Bundestag as well as in numerous state parliaments. The next BauFak will take place in the summer semesterr 2022 at the TU Darmstadt.
