BEFIB 2024 in Dresden
From September 15-18, the eleventh edition of BEFIB - International Symposium on Fiber Reinforced Concrete took place in Dresden, Germany.
It was a privilege to bring together such a diverse group of 200 professionals from around the world for insightful discussions, knowledge sharing and collaborative innovation.
The exchange of ideas and enthusiasm of the participants was truly inspiring and it was wonderful to see so many meaningful connections being made.
During these three intensive conference days, there was the opportunity to see a variety of papers and poster presentations on current topics in the field of fiber-reinforced concrete.
In addition, participants had the opportunity to attend presentations by international experts. We are very proud that we could win Prof. Barzin Mobasher (Arizona State University, USA), Prof. Gideon Van Zijl (Stellenbosch University, South Africa), Prof. Tine Tysmans (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium), Prof. Manfred Curbach (TU Dresden) and Prof. Marco di Prisco (Poliecnico di Milano, Italy) as keynote speakers.
The conference was accompanied by various social activities. On the first evening, participants were invited to the Welcome Reception in the Alfred Hütter Laboratory. There was also the opportunity to attend an official reception in the town hall.
The highlight of this year's social program was supposed to be a steamboat trip with dinner to Pillnitz Castle.
However, due to the collapse of the Carola Bridge and the predicted flooding, an alternative had to be found at short notice. This was found in the Carolaschlösschen in the Great Garden, where the participants were able to exchange ideas in a cozy atmosphere.
We would like to thank all participants and sponsors for a successful conference!
