Dresden Steel Construction Conference 2023 "Steel and Composite Construction - News from Research, Standardization and Practice".
Under the heading "Steel and composite construction - news from research, standardization and practice", around 170 representatives of the steel construction industry met on March 14 for the steel construction conference at the TU Dresden. The event was organized by the Institute for Steel and Timber Construction at the Technical University of Dresden and the Bauakademie Sachsen.
The participants were given insights into various topics of steel construction by proven experts from Germany and Austria. The technical presentations included the development of an ortho composite deck for road bridges, a contribution on the practical handling of non-conformities in welding, welding under service loads as well as the design of angle sections subjected to compressive loads with structural connections. In addition, insights into the draft standard prEN 1993-1-9: 2021 and the second generation of Eurocode 4 were presented. The program was rounded off by presentations on the holistic evaluation of different construction methods in terms of sustainability and the existing tension between planning and execution.
The conference was supported by bauforumstahl, FOSTA, the Chamber of Engineers and the Chamber of Architects of Saxony, the Association of Consulting Engineers (VBI), the publishing house Ernst & Sohn and the Berlin Chamber of Construction.
