TUD awards medal of honour and six honorary pins 2020
With a medal of honour for Prof. Stefan Bornstein and six honorary pins for Alexander Busch, Prof. Manfred Curbach, Prof. Horst-Peter Götting, Prof. Ellen Hieckmann, Prof. Michael Kobel and Prof. Kai Simons, members of Technische Universität Dresden have now been honoured who have rendered outstanding services and special individual achievements for the good of the university.
Prof. Dr. Manfred Curbach has always been fully committed to the interests of Technische Universität Dresden. He has done pioneering work in the field of textile and carbon concrete and is particularly well networked in the scientific community. He was very successfully responsible for one term of office of the Prorectorate University Development of the Technische Universität Dresden. Prof. Curbach stands equally for interdisciplinarity, internationality and successful technology transfer and is an astute and profound contributor to the university's committees. Prof. Curbach has held the professorship for concrete structures at the Faculty of Civil Engineering since 1994 and has been a member of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina since 2013 as well as spokesperson for the BMBF consortium "C³ - Carbon Concrete Composite". In 2016, he was awarded the German Future Prize, the Federal President's prize for technology and innovation.
