The Institute of Hydrobiology is responsible for the field of aquatic ecology within the Department of Hydrosciences. Main topics are the biodiversity, ecology and evolution of aquatic organisms, the effects of anthropogenic stressors and the interrelationships between aquatic organisms and ecosystem functions and services.

Our research activities of the professorships are cross-linked to each other, within the Department of Hydro Sciences and the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, as well as to other departments. Futhermore, the professorships have cooperations with partners in Germany, Europe and the World.
