Welcome to the Railway Operation Laboratory
The railway operations laboratory (EBL) of the Faculty of Transport Sciences "Friedrich List" - one of the most modern railway laboratories in Europe!
The railway operations laboratory combines teaching and research. It is a modern university railway test facility that enables practical exercises and demonstrations. The students operate on a combination of a real model railway system with original signal boxes, a PC-supported simulated railway network and an operations and interlocking simulation (BEST). Courses are held in the laboratory, with the professorship as well as with other partners. These are integrated courses on operational management and safety technology in railway traffic.
The laboratory is a railway test facility
- to map operational, security and management processes,
- for training and research in the field of railway operations and control and safety technology.
It is a combination of
- a real model railway system with original signal boxes,
- a simulation of operations and interlocking simulation (BEST) and
- and an innovative operational control system.
The railway operations laboratory is used
- for student training in the basic and main studies of the study program transport engineering and the master program railway system engineering,
- for the training of specialists and managers as part of the "Knowledge transfer for companies" series and
- for research.
We are a scholastic affiliate to the Faculty of Transportation Science “Friedrich List” of TU Dresden, in close collaboration with the Institute of Railway Systems and Public Transportation as well as having interdisciplinary collaborations with other internal and external Chairs.
Together with the Signalling Laboratory as well as the Superstructure Display we collectively established the Integrated Railway Laboratory. We co-ordinate our work with each other, take each of the working fields into consideration and design the required working interfaces.
