IfL participated in the InterFAB Research Workshop
Experts from different specialist areas shared latest research into opportunities to deliver more sustainable aviation in a time of climate change at the InterFAB annual research workshop. Opened by the European Commissioner for the Environment Virginijus Sinkevicius, high level panelists including representatives from the EUROCNTROL performance review board (PRB), the European Commission, and European Civil Aviation Authorities.
The forum brought together senior climate professionals, policy makers, air navigation service providers, academics and operational experts from all over Europe to discuss ways to monitor and mitigate against the impact of climate change.
Delegates attended in-person to discuss topics including the risks associated with climate change, the role of real-time weather data in optimising trajectory management, fuel planning with the Jetstream, trade-offs between different key performance areas, societal benefits and use of Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence (ML/AI).
