ProfiFuel EFB erfolgreich auf dem ecoDemonstrator eingesetzt
In the night from 17 to 18 November 2019, an innovative Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) application for en-route flight profile optimization was successfully tested during a test flight.
Up to now, flights have been planned several hours before departure and take off with outdated weather forecasts, which are no longer updated during the flight. An EFB application developed in cooperation with researchers from TUD, Jeppesen and GfL breaks this convention and enables a new lateral and vertical flight profile optimization with updated weather forecasts before and during the flight.
The application has now been successfully tested as part of the ecoDemonstrator flight program on a flight from Seattle to Frankfurt am Main. The pilots were supported by with optimized flight profiles right before departure, on leaving the Canadian mainland, above Greenland and near Iceland. Researchers from TU Dresden and Jeppesen supervised the flight live in Neu-Isenburg and submitted the optimised flight profiles to the cockpit.
The results of the flight experiment will be presented by the project staff at the ecoDemonstrator event at Frankfurt Airport on 19 and 20 November.
