TU DRESDEN BUILDS BRIDGES: APPLICATION AND FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF DIGITAL TEACHING IN TIMES OF WAR
A consortium application of the TU Dresden under the leadership of the IHI Zittau was able to win short-term funding for 2022 from the DAAD funding program "Ukraine digital: Ensuring academic success in times of crisis". The Chair of Business Information Systems, esp. Information Management is involved in thi project.
The project complements the existing, long-standing cooperation with the West Ukrainian National University (WUNU) in Ternopil, Ukraine, in the context of the DAAD-funded German-language degree program (DSG) "Internationale Wirtschaft“ and opens up new dimensions for the realization of Virtual Mobility and Virtual Exchange through an integrated offer for digital collaborative learning in German and in English. The focus is on the following goals:
- Cooperation in the development of advanced learning/teaching methods and
- Deepening of existing partnership relations in research, teaching and transfer.
The intended digitalization of the DSG "International Business" at the WUNU in Ternopil builds on many years of research and teaching activities at the Chair of Business Information Systems, esp. Information Management on COIL (collaborative online international learning). A collaborative COIL learning module is to be developed in three stages:
- Piloting: Short-term online participation of DSG students in an established COIL teaching module in winter semester 22/23 in German language.
- In-service training: 17 WUNU faculty members will receive in-service training in English from 02-09.10.22 at the Faculty of Business and Economics on digital/hybrid event formats and specifically on the COIL format of the Chair of Information Management with workshops on the development of COIL case scenarios as a common learning object in the summer semester 2023
- Online qualification: The visit week will be followed by a 10-week online qualification of the Ukrainian guests as e-tutors (COIL learning facilitators with special didactic organizational, social and technical competence) in English, conducted by a Ukrainian research assistant at the Chair of Information Management.
The project aims to establish of a joint COIL module which is integrated into the respective local study programs at the Faculty of Business and Economics and at the DSG at WUNU and serves for the mutual acquisition of ECTS and grades. In the future, WUNU can be developed into a COIL hub for the integration of other interested business faculties in Ukraine.
