Successful degree program accreditation
In May, the TU Dresden's Commission for Quality in Teaching and Learning decided to accredit all of the faculty's degree programs without any conditions. The degree program analyses, which are usually carried out internally every eight years, are a core element of quality management at TU Dresden, which aims to ensure the continuous quality assurance and development of degree programs.
Various stakeholders and committees are involved in the process of program evaluation and accreditation. The Center for Quality Analysis (ZQA) initially carries out the quality analysis and draws on university statistical data, existing study documents and teaching reports as well as surveys of students, lecturers and graduates. The analyses are based on university and subject-specific quality objectives, which are coordinated with the respective student and professorial program coordinators at the faculty. In addition, external representatives from professional practice, academia and external students are sought for each degree program to be evaluated and asked to provide an expert opinion.
As a result of the evaluation, an evaluation report is prepared, which contains, among other things, a comprehensive analysis of strengths and weaknesses as well as initial suggestions for measures to improve the quality of the degree program. After receiving the report, the faculty and in particular the program coordinators are asked to prepare a statement on it, which is then discussed in the study commissions and the Faculty Board. The accreditation procedure itself is finally initiated by the Vice-Rector Academic Affairs upon receipt of the statement and the catalog of measures.
The degree programs of our faculty evaluated in this round are accredited until 30.09.2032. A big thank you goes to all those involved in the extensive evaluation at the Faculty, whether in the Dean of Studies Office, on the committees or in program coordination!
