What Can You Study at the Faculty of Business and Economics?
We offer four undergraduate programs, i.e., programs that lead to a first university degree. The most common of these is the Bachelor's degree, which you can earn in our programs in Business Administration and Economics, and in Business Education and Management Training. In addition, our faculty also offers Diplom programs in business informatics and industrial engineering.
For a detailed overview of our different study programs, please visit the Faculty of Business and Economics webpage Study Programs!

All of our degree programs feature large elective areas with many specializations. These cover all relevant fields, are really flexibly structured, and can be composed and combined very freely. This way, you can easily tailor your studies to what interests you and brings you further.
In the following, you can see which business majors are available in our degree programs. You can get more detailed information by clicking on the respective name. You can find the exact structure of the elective areas and the (few) rules applying to the specializations on the pages of the different study programs, which you can easily reach via the General Website of the Study Programs.

This is only part of the list. Of course, there are computer science specializations in the Diplom Business Information Systems, engineering sciences specializations in the Diplom Industrial Engineering and Management, and more. For detailed information, check the websites of the study programs.
In principle, all areas of business and economics are at least elective options in our degree programs. Therefore, it is essential for us that you receive an overview of the various subfields at the beginning of your studies. That's why Business Administration, Economics, and Business Information Systems are compulsory in the first semesters of the Bachelor's and Diplom programs. With a good idea of what all belongs to the discipline, you will make informed choices on where to deepen your knowledge.

Is Studying at the Faculty of Business and Economics Right for You?
Only you can answer this question yourself. And let's be honest: not all people starting university studies become happy with it. Often, this is due to a wrong expectation of the program's contents and organization. That's why we've put together a checklist here that you can use to see if what we have to offer suits you.
- I am looking for a critical examination of current issues in my field of study, i.e., in business administration and economics and - depending on the course of study - also in Business Information Systems, Computer Science, and Engineering.
- I enjoy mathematics, statistics, and programming.
- I want to train and improve my analytical skills.
- I want to learn quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- I have an interest in theory building and modeling.
- I like to engage with technical literature and acquire knowledge.
- I like to work independently and can handle the personal responsibility that studying requires in time management, choosing sub-subjects, etc.
- I want to work out answers instead of being told.

Very diverse and attractive! In addition to the classic cultural highlights such as the Frauenkirche, Semper Opera House, and museums, the city offers plenty for actual student life.
Dresden's Neustadt is the top choice for night-outs, cozy or excessive. Here you can find something for every taste and budget. There is also a wide range of student clubs. They are mainly located near campus and are practically unbeatable in terms of price-performance ratio.

The Film Nights on the Elbe banks offer a distinctive open-air cinema and concert program every summer against a dreamlike backdrop opposite the old town. There are regular renowned music events and district festivals throughout the year, such as the "Bunte Republik Neustadt" and the Elbhangfest.
Dresden's surroundings also have their charms and offer much worth discovering. Saxon Switzerland is an ideal destination for hiking and climbing. In the cold season, there are plenty of winter sports opportunities in the Ore Mountains. And if you want to go further afield, Berlin and Prague are easy to reach by car or train.

Housing for students is affordable in Dresden, especially compared to many other university cities. The Studentenwerk Dresden operates a large number of dormitories throughout the city. The free housing market also offers a decent supply.

A good mix of on-site and online formats characterizes our teaching. Below we have compiled several lecture videos from the last semesters, mainly from introductory courses. They show you the topics the different subfields of business and economics deal with at the beginning of your studies and the general workings of lectures.
Virtual Campus Tours
Part 1: In this video, you will get to know the Auditorium Center with the largest lecture hall of the TU Dresden, the AUDIMAX. It is the venue of many basic courses in Bachelor and Diplom programs.
We also go to the Georg-Schumann-Building, where a large part of the faculty is located. It also hosts numerous smaller lecture halls and seminar rooms. Moreover, the "Alte Mensa" canteen, the sports halls, and the SLUB - the Saxon State Library – Dresden State and University Library are presented.
Part 2: The second campus tour video starts at the Hülße-Bau, next to the Georg Schumann-Bau, the other central building of the Faculty of Business and Economics. Among others, Florian, a student of business engineering, leads the way from here.
