What Makes Our Study Programs Special?
Our degree programs, whether Bachelor, Master, or Diplom, share some principles that make them particularly attractive and set them apart from competitors:
- Very great freedom of choice and flexibility in terms of content
- Good balance between theory and practice
- Strong support for studying abroad
- Possibility of part-time study
Please find out more about this and the subject-specific uniquenesses of the programs on their websites!
What Specializations and Elective Areas Await You?
All of our degree programs feature large elective areas with many specializations we call profiles. They cover all relevant fields, have really flexible structures, and can be composed and combined very freely. This way, you can easily tailor your studies to what interests you and takes you further.
In the following, you can see which profiles are available in Business Administration, Economics, and Business Information Systems. Click on the respective name for detailed information. You will find the exact structure of the elective areas and the (few) rules applying to the specializations on the pages of the different study programs, which you easily reach via the Degree Programs at the Faculty of Buisness and Economics website.
There are also profiles in other areas, for example in computer science in Business Information Systems and in engineering in Industrial Engineering and Management. If you want to know more about the other profiles, simply check the websites of the study programs.
In principle, all areas of business administration and economics are at least elective options in our degree programs. We consider it essential that you receive an overview of the various subfields at the beginning of your studies. That's why Business Administration, Economics, and Business Information Systems are compulsory in the first semesters of the Bachelor's and Diplom programs. With a good idea of what all belongs to the discipline, you will make informed choices on where to deepen your knowledge.

How is Dresden as a City?
Very diverse and attractive! In addition to the classic cultural highlights such as the Frauenkirche, Semper Opera House, and museums, the city offers plenty for actual student life.
Dresden's Neustadt is the top choice for night-outs, cozy or excessive. Here you can find something for every taste and budget. There is also a wide range of student clubs. They are mainly located near campus and are practically unbeatable in terms of price-performance ratio.
The Film Nights on the Elbe banks offer a distinctive open-air cinema and concert program every summer against a dreamlike backdrop opposite the old town. There are regular renowned music events and district festivals throughout the year, such as the "Bunte Republik Neustadt" and the Elbhangfest.
Dresden's surroundings also have their charms and offer much worth discovering. Saxon Switzerland is an ideal destination for hiking and climbing. In the cold season, there are plenty of winter sports opportunities in the Ore Mountains. And if you want to go further afield, Berlin and Prague are easy to reach by car or train.
Housing for students is affordable in Dresden, especially compared to many other university cities. The Studentenwerk Dresden operates a large number of dormitories throughout the city. The free housing market also offers a decent supply.
